(Originally called Love Amidst Abuse and changed to Piper’s Song prior to printing.)
For over 25 years I endured marital abuse, and the title reflects a line in one of the poems about that experience. But while my poetry often reflects those troubling years, there are bright moments mixed with the dark ones. And the subject matter is pleasantly varied. Some of the 67 poems offered in this collection are really not poems at all, but come from the many songs I’ve composed in my lifetime – over one hundred at last count. It was difficult to decide what poems to present on this website. Some, like Homestead, were too long so I’ve included parts of some of my favorites.
